PowerApps as the Foundation
Microsoft PowerApps gave us rapid, configurable application development that lives inside the Microsoft ecosystem Freedom Fuels already used. No ripping out the existing tech stack - extending it intelligently.
// case study · oil & gas · field operations
We rebuilt Freedom Fuels' field operations on Microsoft PowerApps and Azure - replacing clipboards, phone calls, and one-computer spreadsheets with real-time, automated workflows the team can actually maintain.
// the challenge
Freedom Fuels runs field operations in the oil and gas space - the kind of work where information needs to move fast and errors have real consequences. The existing process relied on manual workflows: clipboards, phone calls, spreadsheets that lived on one person's computer, and a lot of institutional knowledge that existed only in people's heads. It worked until it didn't. And increasingly, it wasn't working.
Field teams needed real-time visibility. Office teams needed data they could trust. Management needed a system that wouldn't break when the person who knew how it worked took a vacation. The answer wasn't a $500,000 enterprise platform with a 14-month implementation timeline. It was smart, targeted automation built on tools the team could actually maintain.
// field operations, digitized
Real-time field visibility on Azure PowerApps - zero clipboards required.
// the approach
Microsoft PowerApps gave us rapid, configurable application development that lives inside the Microsoft ecosystem Freedom Fuels already used. No ripping out the existing tech stack - extending it intelligently.
We built backend automation on Azure to handle the workflows that previously required manual coordination. Data captured in the field moves automatically to the right systems - no one re-entering it somewhere by hand.
Before writing a line of code, we mapped how work actually moved through the organization - not how it was supposed to move. That distinction mattered. The systems reflect real operations, not a whiteboard ideal.
Field software has to work offline, on phones with dirty screens, in environments that don't resemble an office. We designed for that from day one, not as an afterthought.
// the outcome
Real-time
visibility - replacing end-of-day manual entry
Core field-coordination workflows that once required clipboards, phone calls, and one-computer spreadsheets now run automatically on PowerApps and Azure - built field-first for the people who actually use it.
